Acron is a proud and privileged sponsor of Prison Ministry India

Prison Ministry India is a Voluntary organization. It is a challenging Ministry. It is an invitation to all to love and forgive. Prison Ministry India started in 1997. Prison is a place to give Hope to the Hopeless, Love to the Loveless and be a voice to the voiceless. It is also a Home where the behavior of prisoners is mended.

Some children are born in Prison, some children of mothers who have been murdered or have committed suicide. Children born in Prison, mothers who are due their babies at the time of arrest are mothers who have conceived their babies are allowed to keep the baby in prison with them. Such children are allowed to be with their mothers till they are 5 years, after which they are either taken by the relatives or kept in destitute homes.

Children of prisoners and those of crime victim turn to criminal activities. Prison Ministry feels that this atmosphere and environment is not good for the growth of these little children, and try to place them in different boarding houses where they can be brought in a better healthy atmosphere. These budding lives cannot be left to be trampled by the harsh realities of life. These little children are very precious and need to be taken care of.

Prison Ministry gets these children out from prison, through court orders. They are provided food clothing, shelter, medical care and education which is also a sponsored programme sponsored by Acron and many other generous donors.

ACRON gives back to the Community - St Xavier's Pre-Primary School

Acron, one of the state's leading developers, has completely restored and renovated the heritage building of St. Xavier's Pre-Primary School in Moira as a special goodwill gesture towards the people of the village.

Acron's MD Amar J. Britto formally handed over the new School premises to the Fabrica of the Moira Church on 12th July, 2013 in the presence of the CM and Minister of Education Mr. Manohar Parrikar, local MLA Mr. Glen Ticlo, Parish Priest and Fabrica President Fr. Simpliciano Fernandes, Moira Sarpanch Mr. Oswald Cordeiro and other dignataries. The ceremony was followed by a gathering at St. Xavier's School hall.

This reconstruction of the Pre-Primary Building has special significance because it is housed in premises that was the ancestral home of Acron's directors. Their Moidekar grandparents had magnanimously donated the house to the Diocese some decades ago and it has been used for the School ever since. Due to time and vagaries of nature the structure had aged and become unsuitable and unsafe, with parents of the school children getting quite apprehensive about the health and safety of their wards. Acron came forward and offered to undertake the entire restoration of the School building free of cost. After detailed analysis by Acron's team of civil engineers and architects, it emerged that the entire structure, roofing etc was in need of total replacement.

Says Neville Fernandes, Chief Engineer of the company, “The project was very satisfying because we have carefully preserved the heritage elements of the original architecture and at the same time converted it into a totally modern, child-friedly building suitable for learning and play, that Moira village can be really proud of. The new building has good light and ventilation, wrap around balcony, fire exits, easy access for staff and parents, new flooring, concealed electricals, an insulated roof with Zincalume to deflect heat, clean and hygienic bathrooms for boys and girls and Play Area. Acron took the same amount of trouble and care as in our real estate developments, leaving no stone unturned in the design and execution, including safety of the kinds who are the main users the building. The renovation was also gratifying because our company's directors hail from Moira and this building was their family home”.

Acron has completed 25 years of development in Goa. In addition to their other corporate service initiatives in the villages of Moira and Aldona, they have also teamed up with Toy Bank to provide free toys for schools starting with this Pre-Primary section of St. Xavier's. “Moira has yet another feather in its cap”, commented an ex-student of the school, a Moidekar now living in Australia. The school is fast becoming the talk of the neighbouring villages and towns and has already witnessed a growth in the number of applications and admissions. Dinesh Sawant, Engineer in charge of the project was very proud and said “it is a pleasure to do something that contributes to the betterment of the village, especially in an area like education, which has such a large effect on society for years to come!!”
